Best Paper Award IEEE MWSCAS 2009

Niklas Zimmermann, Björn T. Thiel, Renato Negra, and Stefan Heinen received the Myril B. Reed Best Paper Award for their paper "System Architecture of an RF-DAC Based Multistandard Transmitter" which was presented at the 52nd IEEE MWSCAS 2009.

The International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS) is the oldest circuits and systems symposium sponsored by the IEEE. The Myril B. Reed Best Paper Award is given each year for the best paper presented at the previous MWSCAS. The award ceremony took place at this years 53rd MWSCAS in Seattle, WA, USA.
The paper discusses the concept of a reconfigurable, multistandard "direct-digital" transmitter. Unwanted spurious emissions are the main issue for this type for architecture. Requirements on the digital and mixed-signal blocks are discussed and several techniques for reducing the spurious emissions are presented.
