Prof. A. Ephremides: "Stable Throughput, Rate Control, and Delay in Multi-Access Channels

May 23, 2011,5:00 pm UMIC Distinguished Lecture 2011 Ringvorlesung Forum Informatik Super C, 6th floor, Fordsaal Templergraben 57

We consider a framework for the study of multi-access channels that combines traditional "networking" approaches with physical layer aspects. We limit the detailed analysis to a simple 2-user channel but we are able to demonstrate the connection between stability and reliable communication. In addition, the related problem of "emptying" a set of queues over such a channel in minimum time is also addressed. At least, conceptually, our approach can be applied to more general environments. We consider a framework for the study of multi-access channels that combines traditional "networking" approaches with physical layer aspects.
