UMIC Day'09

The organisers of UMIC Day '09 were prepared for a larger numbers of visitors than in the past few years, but the great interest in this event exceeded all expectations. This year (20 October 2010), a great number of guests had to follow the main presentation from the entrance hall.

Henning Schulzrinne, Professor at Columbia University, New York, held a speech on the highly topical issue Internet 2.0 and the question "Hype or Hope". He presented the basic challenges of the internet such as the scarcity of address exhaustion, routing scaling, fairness, security and manageability.

The current research projects of the clusters which were presented in speeches and by demonstrators sparked great interest and lead to lively discussions.

The scientific presentations were complemented by a juggling performance by Joram Seewi as conclusion of the official part of the event. The comedian (www.seewi.de) impressed the scientific experts with his performance on the complex facts of the case of mobile communication by means of juggling acts.

UMIC Day: exciting presentations, interesting demonstrations, entertaining juggling show - last but not least, a relaxing conclusion in a pleasant ambiance with buffet and sparkling wine.
